Baggett’s Jewelry was established in 1948 by Earnest Baggett in downtown Clinton, NC where he carried diamond engagement rings, gold and silver jewelry, name brand watches, and guitars. His expertise was in repairing mechanical watches. The service he provided during the beginning years was jewelry repair, watch repair, engraving, and ear piercing, After Mr. Earnest Baggett passed in 1987, his wife Sara and son Bill Baggett started managing the business. They increased their inventory and in 1999 the business relocated to the new Sampson Crossing/ Wal-mart shopping center. The 1999 relocation achieved record sales and the most sales ever in December for the business. Bill Baggett took over management responsibilities in 2007, after his Mother, Sara McLamb Baggett retired after serving as owner/manager for 50 years.
